It's going to be hard on the donkeys' feet walking on concrete and paved roads. But at least the trucks carrying weapons will be able travel faster.

HA HA HA - and the US put him in power.

Awash in American and NATO money, Mr. Karzai’s government is widely regarded as one of the most corrupt in the world. The Times has reported on the extensive web of Karzai family members leveraging the president’s position to put them at the center of a new oligarchy of powerful Afghan families.

Western critics have accused Mr. Karzai of weak leadership, cutting deals with warlords, tolerating drug smugglers and ignoring rampant corruption that has fed the insurgency. The relationship between Mr. Karzai and the Obama administration, which has made fighting the endemic corruption in the Afghan government a major policy goal, has been contentious.

HA HA HA - one of Karzai's top advisors (married to Karzai's sister):

Until recently, Taj Ayubi’s specialty was retail. Mr. Ayubi, an Afghan immigrant, ran a furniture store in Leesburg, Va., and before that, a thrift shop in Washington.

But today, Mr. Ayubi’s specialty is foreign policy. He is the senior foreign affairs adviser to the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai.

Not buying the oil war argument we've heard since the 1970's...sorry.

You don't have to buy it.........other countries are with US dollars. You've heard about it since the seventies because we pegged the dollar to oil in the seventies.

We provide 107 billion to a foreign country, while at the same time we have idiots advocating taking away free lunch for poor children, cut social security for old people, reduce grants to our own law enforcement and we can't agree on a package to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure.

We need a new govt. This is not what the people of the U.S. want. WHo are our politicians representing?
I agree 100%. There is barely more justification for being in Afghanistan as there was for invading and occupying Iraq. Just think of what the rest of the world thinks when they see American troops in bases all over the Middle East.

It is to control other peoples resources. Just follow the money. I don't understand how Americans remain oblivious to this and just don't care.

As a nation, a good percentage of us are morally bankrupt.

Spending 107 billion in Afghanistan, but Republicans say we can't cut a penny from the Defense budget. I see a 107 billion cut right there. How do they seem to be missing that.

The have already cut around 100 billion from the defense budget. I suggest you pay attention instead of howling all the time. Was any of that money spent on infrastructure?? Show me.
