None? No New Year's? Valentine's Day? St. Patricks? Fourth of July?

I'm atheist and I celebrate Christmas. Not for religious reason obviously.

I celebrate family, togetherness, giving and love. I really enjoy Christmas trees, lights, music, etc. It's nice to take a day out of the year and actively acknowledge charity and giving.

I am atheist and I do not celebrate the fake holiday. I decline to say why because quite frankly you really don't want to hear it.

I live in a neighborhood with a high Indian population and many of the families celebrate Christmas. Most are practicing Hindus, but they will hang lights, have Christmas trees, visit Santa and exchange gifts. I spoke to one of my neighbors about it once, and the reason he gave was simple: "that's what you do in America." I think to many people it's just another holiday celebrated in the West, and has nothing to do with religion.

What was "Christmas" about before Christians stole it from the Pagans?

Educate yourself and then get back to me instead of being blinded by religion.

Thank you.
That's silly - just because Christmas as a date was taken from pagan Roman culture does not mean that the idea of the holiday...is "stolen" - it just got politizied by the Romans..

We feel the same way.

That's pretty sad! What did your family do on Thanksgiving? Shop for Christmas?

Nope...not even close.

TLV posted (#2), I responded (post #8) and then he responded again #10) and then I responded with the question about being snarky (#14).

All clear now?

Many of the "ingredients" of the modern celebration of Christmas, which Christians partake in, are certainly stolen from Paganism. Which is totally fine and part of the human experience. I just wish the Christians who condemn others for celebrating Christmas would acknowledge that.
