A refreshing bit of intellectual honesty from a GOP member. Coburn is saying that it is simply reality that there will have to be cuts in programs and raising taxes to deal with the Deficit. Something that many of his GOP buddies just will not admit, eventhough they know it is true. Thus, no intellectual honesty.

I wouldn't call any of them intellectually honest when you watch them wrestle over budget cuts. They refer to cutting billions when in reality that are just decreasing the amount of a spending increase in future years which a future congress may or may not even adhere to.

Sen. Coburn is really right wing, but I think he's more pragmatic and sensible than other conservatives, from what I've seen and heard of him. Of course, being sensible and pragmatic will get him expelled from the conservative movement sooner rather than later.

Tom Coburn = RINO, unfortunately. (to the nutjobs anyway)

I don't think even the most hardened leftist would describe Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Patty Murray, Diane Feinstein, Al Frankin et al as intellectually honest. I am not sure who Coburn could be talking about.

Coburn is no RINO. Even the most conservative members can't say that he is on the left on anything. The difference between he and other Republican's is that he is honest in his beliefs. He does not say things to just get elected. I doubt that Oklahoma will kick him out. They love him there.

Expect the Tea Party to turn on Coburn. He'll be tarred and feathered as a RINO, and the Republican party will continue its descent into inanity.

Hes right. Democrats at least want to raise taxes to pay for their spending.

Republicans want to lower taxes, and increase spending. Now they'll tell you they want to cut spending, but just look at the bills they've signed in the last 4 years. Spend, Spend, Spend.

Are they going to blame President Obama? What makes them any different then him blaming Bush?

Coburn knows the sad truth. The only way we are going to close the deficit is to increase taxes WITH spending cuts, and entitlement reform. Theres no other way it's gonna happen.
