8 years, boy these "investigative units" are doing a great job.....
How many other *millions* of fraudsters are out there?
I could just have easily said Medicare/Medicade instead of defense...
Hell nowdays all you need to do is go to a shrink and act depressed and you can get on disiability. Now it takes hard work to convince me of this of course. Some folks will work harder to try and get on the teet than actually at a real job it seems. Oh and if you got kids and want to work the system one can reap the socialist goldmine. It is "all for the children" after all.
We had a lady trying her best to get one of the (required) affordable units. When verifying incomes she had $80,000 in the bank and was receiving $3,000/month in child support. When we told her that she was WELL over the limit she said "hold on, let me get back to you."
About a week went by and she came back in with all sorts of new documents where she had moved money around and even tried to get a lawyer to vouch that her $3,000 month was used solely for her 3 kids.
Yup, she wanted the government to pay for her $1500/month apartment and was more than willing to scramble to get it.
And the left still swears up and down there are no welfare queens in Cadillacs (which she happen to be driving a hybrid Escalade).
Because every day he gets dressed in his torn dirty clothing and stands on street corners with a "Homeless please help" sign and probably rakes in about 10 grand a month. Yea I'm bitter.
Wrong, the guy was a chiropractor and it sounds like he made a pretty good living. Another example of upper income people gaming the system.
Feds Raid Million Dollar Home of Welfare Recipient in Washington State (http://conservativebyte.com/2011/12/feds-raid-million-dollar-home-of-welfare-recipient-in-washington-state/ - broken link)
Residents of a wealthy lakefront community near Seattle are surprised to learn that one of their neighbors, who has lived in a $1.2 million home for the last 8 years, is the recipient of more that $1,200 a month in public housing vouchers, federal and state disability, and food stamps. King 5 reports on the couple living large on the taxpayer’s dime:
As far as we're concerned she wasn't committing any crime that we know of. She simply wasn't in the right category to receive assistance from the government.
You have to understand, you get into all sorts of legal issues when you start "reporting" your prospects...
We offered her the $1500/month apartment and she declined. End of story. People who try to game the system eventually do themselves in.
The math doesnt work out.. On a $1M home, the payments are about $10K a month..
This means there is other fraud taking place other than just the $1,200 posted.
Not to mention, the 'significant other' is a chiropractor. While they make good money, they don't make enough to afford a $1M home unless they have other substantial sources of income or a huge downpayment.
Frauds are frauds. Investigate, arrest, prosecute, try and punish if appropriate. In addiditon to welfare cheats we should do this to most military financiers and contractors.
And most every member of Congress along with so many other politicians.
$1,200 is chump change compared to the Defense budget. This is why people focus on the bigger fish.
And besides that both of those people probably vote for Democrats. Let them go since you folks will need their votes next fall, if we have an election.
