How many of you have heard about this bill that just passed the Senate. In a nutshell, this bill will allow and police or military agencies to detain American citizens indefinitely and with out due process if you are suspected of any questionable activity.
I think it was Thoms Jefferson that said: "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."
Our economy is crashing and the biggest concern of our elected politicians is passing a bill that will allow for infinite detention of American citizens without a trial.
Sad state of affairs in our country, especially when Republicans are in overwhelming support of this Bill. What happened to your party, Republicans?

To be fair, the bill passed 93-7. That's because nobody (Dem or Rep) has the backbone to vote against a Defense Appropriation bill. (At election time the opponent will be claiming that they were against national security and not supporting the troops.)

It was Franklin, and the actual quote is, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was Franklin or Jefferson, now I know.

I agree, all politicians are to blame.
But Republicans were supposed to be the party that wanted limitations on big Government. Now that they no longer care about that, the party is not useful.
