Can't believe you don't KNOW this.
Don't pretend for a second that you wouldn't have called Obama out for being a cowardly do-nothing president as Gaddafi's forces smeared Benghazi from the face of the earth - as they were poised to do.

This is the real world where circumstances force people to make hard decisions between unpleasant alternatives.

I think the West should engage and build a good relationship with the new leaders, instead of lamenting that they are, surprise surprise, not secular in nature.

Regardless of how the Arab Spring turns out, I don't see what the US could have done to influence events either way.

Again, you should be gung-ho going into Iran and Syria then, because they are killing protesters in the streets as well.

AQ's flag is now flying in Libya.

LOL

Appeasement?

Killing the ones actually identifiable as enemy combatants is appeasment?

On what planet?

Obama is doing exactly what TDR advised about our foreign policy. Walk softly and carry a big stick.

Extend the olive branch with one hand to any of those that want to work with us. Have a handful of Navy SEALs and Predator drones for those who do not. It's pragmatic and effective.

If a Republican President was doing it, you'd be gushing with praise and you know it.

That is really the optimal point.

People lament about Carter and the Shah. Well what was he supposed to do? Should Obama have sent gunships to mow down protestors?

Consequently, neuling's strategy is the best way to go.

Until this year, the border with Egypt was considered so benign that large stretches of it remained unfenced. But since the fall of Hosni Mubarak, the Sinai Desert on the Egyptian side is a hotbed of militant Islamists beyond the reach of Cairo; on Sunday Netanyahu announced a security fence will be rushed in time for completion within a year.

This is the result of obama's insistence that mubarak leave "yesterday", instead of calling for a transitional transfer of power.

I don't know, maybe obama has been hoping for a ME war - Israel against her neighbors, which is looking more and more likely to happen.

Full scale war with Iran would make the Invasion of Iraq look like the Invasion of Grenada. A suicide mission that would erupt the entire region. Dumb, dumb, dumb...

Syria is Iran's BFF, borders Israel, and is really within Turkey's realm to deal with should things spiral further out of control.

Basically, Lybia was a cakewalk for us and had an easily defined mission. Getting involved with either Syria or Iran would be an unmitigated disaster.
