Well, that's not surprising. We've had conservatives on this very board say transgendered people should be thrown in incinerators, gays are going to burn in hell and children should be taught that, gays are deviant sexual perverts who need to be locked up in a mental institution, hate crimes against gays should be cheered, etc.
Perry is just appealing to his base.
Not to get off topic but who is obama appealing to with his exporting of the gay agenda overseas?
Do you have anything that proves gays are not sexual and intellectual deviants?
At the time of the 1967 ruling you enjoy espousing so much marriage was between a man and a woman. Nothing mentioned or said whatsoever about the homosexual. You are the one who is wrong otherwise the SC would have made sure we would have universal homosexual marriage long before now. They haven’t because it is not applicable.
This changes nothing about what I correctly asserted: that marriage is a fundamental right.
People who say it is not are either ignorant or dishonest. Since the people in this thread who claim it is not have many times been directed to this part of the holding in Loving, I can only assume they fall into the latter category.
Reading comprehension would be a great help to you.
It is applicable, which is why it is cited in EVERY SINGLE CASE about gay marriage. The issue has not yet bubbled up to the SCOTUS.
Even lawyers arguing AGAINST gay marriage CONCEDE THAT MARRIAGE IS A RIGHT.
He didn't say that at all, you’re paranoid. Do you really think the USA can buy other countries into going against their beliefs? I care nothing for Perry but he is spot on in this instance. It's non of our business to police other countries.
Money talks. Of course we can seek to change their beliefs and views by withholding money from them . That's the entire premise behind UN sanctions. Take away the support these countries depend on, until they become more civilized and actually earn the money we give them.
You fail to address the people with NO religious correlation who do not want marriage changed. We are not allowed or permitted to want marriage to remain unchanged.
Gay marriage does not affect your rights in any way shape or form, unless you happen to be gay and want to get married.

Reason: personal attack
They're trying to manufacture a new "right" that nobody has ever had....that nobody ever should have....and that nobody ever can have in a free society. The "right" to the approval of others for behavior and lifestyle.
Not your call.
Plus, you're wrong. Marriage is a right. Marriage is governed by laws. Equal protection of the law is a right. Bans on gay marriage violate equal protection. It's really not that hard to figure out.

That we as a nation have replaced most sensibilities with the upside down and inside out PC laws of the fringe left makes us a laughing stock in many other countries. And to attempt to impose our decay as a condition of aid only drives wedges deeper.
I am so sorry that the civil liberties of others are such a burden to you. Have you considered moving to a more socially conservative place? Islamabad?
50 years ago John F Kennedy committed us to space exploration with the inspiring national goal of achieving the landing of an American on the moon by the end of the decade. Today, this kind of crap is all we do - ever.

It is pathetic....and the only countries that don't see it that way are the ones sinking fast by the bow like we are.
The only thing pathetic here is the willingness of some to remain so unbelievably ignorant and hateful - talking about overbearing PCness in one breath and supporting authoritarianism in another.
I guess if you lived in San Francisco your statement would be true...
San Francisco actually has only the 4th largest gay population. SF has the highest percentage of gays, not population. However, New York City has the most gays, Los Angeles is #2, and Chicago is #3. Not surprising as the 3 largest cities in the nation.
So New York is the gay mecca in this country, not SF.
Is Perry a homophobe? I'm watching a CNN interview with Wolf Blitzer & Perry and now he says we should have never repealed "don't ask don't tell"! Next it will be women shouldn't serve unless they are cooking for the troops or nursing the men back to health then we need to desegragate the military racially!
Texas? Do us a favor and keep your maniacs out of national politics!
No, Perry is probably closeted like a large chunk of anti gay conservatives.
