Not only that, but taking extreme extended PAID leave on employers or states dime is not only a drain financially as money is being paid for work not being done, but then it is being paid AGAIN to have someone else pick up the slack, if at all! Those still left to do the job are left with that persons workload as well

Next thing you know, they are going to ponder why people can't just get paid a 40hr work week while sitting at home doing nothing.

In Norway the Mother and Father both get a full year of maternity leave. After a year either one of them can have another year off at half pay. It is important to the Norwegians that they start their children off right. They believe in supporting parents, the US believes in letting families sink or swim and builds lots of prisons for the sinkers. That's pretty much it.

But I do agree with you on cutting back on the mega homes and cars. That is a whole other topic but I'm thinking we'd agree on that thread. People live way too large.
Emphasis on FEEL. Feelings dont equate truth. Cellphones, tv, internet..they are STILL luxuries whether people FEEL that way or not

And if that $15/hr minimum wage in Australia sounds good you ought to check out and see what kind of a shack (a real shack) $200k buys over there. You think housing prices are high in San Francisco?

In the end someone has to pay, who? You?
Australia's economy is doing well, far better than the US and Europe. They also have a lower poverty rate.

Really, it's more of the attitude that if you give a woman in America a maternity benefit she would soon do nothing but have babies because she has no control of it all when it comes to free money. That is why I demanded respect, not for financing my "lifestyle" choice. ha ha ha
It's hard to give life to you creatures that grow up and crap all over us. lol

By the way, that was a joke, I don't think you all grow up and crap on your mothers feelings.
Sweetie, having babies (they call it parenthood) IS a lifestyle choice. There is not decision to make about it being a lifestyle.

So you equate respect with soaking the taxpayer? You want respect? finance your lifestyle yourself.

If you don't want woman working pay men a salary that can actually support a darn family!!!
If you all don't have a little respect we can stop having babies at anytime and see where that'll get ya. You definitely won't have to worry about financial obligation with no population.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It's just a thought but I do believe some countries want a healthy, happy populous. They seem to think people are more productive that way, have more children get higher educations and contribute more to their society in the end.
I think some don't mind a well rounded work force that include longer paid holidays, payed maternity leave, sick leave, etc. They seem to think they get a better return from their work force that way. Go figure? Maybe, just maybe they have statistics to prove this but I'm not sure.

TV and cell phones no longer cost a lot of money. Even poor people can afford it on one days pay.
