According to the NIH study, they described homophobic as men who had a negative attitude towards homosexual individuals. It's not hard to figure out the type of people they tested.
That definition is too generalized and binary. Did they use a Likert scale or just a "yes/no" type of questionnaire? I'm still skeptical about how the NIH was able to obtain true homophobes for their study, especially considering how much it would cost to compensate someone to measure their penis before and after watching gay sex.

Sexual orientation is not the same as sexual behavior. Gay only refers to one's attractions, not their behavior.
