Covering the GOP war on the middle class is like covering WW2. There are a hundred battles on a hundred fronts.

Months ago, Obama nominated Robert Cordrey, former Ohio AG, to head up the new Consumer Financial Protection Department. This department was created in the wake of the 2008 Wall Street disaster, and is designed to protect the intersests of the average American. The deparment would operate independant of influence by the Corporate Elite.

And THAT is exactly what the GOP objects to- how can their corporate masters steal the US treasury, if they can't control the Govt "oversight" apparatus, as they have in the past?

So, the GOP is filibustering Cordrey's appointment (and thus the formation of the Department), until and unless Obama agrees to water down the Department's authority:
