I think its funny that these racists try and take credit for like the 100 white people in the history of the world that actually created sh*t. That's like me taking credit anything Ben Carson's done. Detroit was an early foothold for the civil rights movement because the city's incredible affluence highlighted its long time inequalities. The writing was on the wall long before the '67 riots - all the way back to the riots of 1943, in which 34 people were killed. The tide was turning, and white people in Detroit knew it - blacks were not going anywhere. You can cloak the massive pre-1967 white flight under the guise of people wanting "back yards", or, if you are honest, you will acknowledge this was a preemptive move on the part of white Detroiters to flee a city in which black demands could no longer be swept under the rug.
Rumorshad started that a black woman had been assaulted by a white man. Another rumorwas that a white woman was raped and killed by a black man. Stores were looted and buildings were burned in the riot, most of which were in a black neighborhood roughly two miles in and around Paradise Valley, one of the oldest and poorest neighborhoods in Detroit.

By the 1940s Detroit already had a long history of racial conflict. Race riots had occurred in 1863 and as recently as 1941. By the 1920s the city had become a stronghold of the Ku Klux Klan, an organization committed to white supremacy. The industrial plants provided jobs but not housing. White communities militantly guarded the dividing lines imposed by segregation throughout Detroit's history. As a result, the city's 200,000 black residents were cramped into 60 square blocks on the East Side and forced to live under deplorable sanitary conditions. The argument could be made that Detroit's blacks "inherited" a world class city with a GDP larger than many mid-sized countries. What did they do with this gift?

The single most influential factor in decentralizing Detroit’s industrial economy was the development of automation. Not only did modern industrial processes necessitate a sprawling, single-story production facility; automation reduced the number of workers needed to do a job. One example given of the dramatic effects of automation is the case of Ford’s Rouge complex: the number of jobs at that facility dropped from 85,000 in 1945 to 30,000 by 1960. Is there an example of a majority non-white nation that is better than the US? I can think of only one possibile candidate, Japan, and that's very debatable. Maybe I'm overlooking someplace?
black special treatment will be a thing of the past. Black "concerns" and "issues" will be drowned out by the huge number of other minority groups.
This is already occuring. Hispanic issues are the primary minority concern now because of their greater political influence. They simply have more votes than the blacks. That trend will only increase over time.
