I would suggest- probably so. No one likes being taken advantage of . Perhaps we, as humans, should accept that we should all strive to work and support ourselves.

Hawkeye, a little thought experiment is in order. What if there was a land where people did have more freedom, people were more free to unlock the highest fraction of their own potential for their own benefit, and government was more limited than other places? What would happen?

Oh, wait a minute, that's not a thought experiment--it is American history. Those factors made the United States the greatest, most prosperous country in the history of the world. The future is an open question, however: the takers are being encouraged to work to the detriment of the makers.

By the way, is Iowa's bowl game this week?

Let me simplify it for you then.

If the US broke up into a socialistic and capitalistic separate entities, would the "providers" of the assets, goods and services in the socialistic componant eventually come to resent being exploited by the dependents in that system? In such a division, there would have to be elements in the socialistic system that would be exploited by the dependent componant of the population. That burden would be extreme, as the socialistic componant of the US would attract those that believe in receiving benefits from the government with a minimal amount of personal effort. However, SOMEONE would have to work and provide the food, energy, assets, and currency for the dependent componant of the population.

Would that subset of productive elements in a socialistic environment eventually become resentful at the prospect of being fleeced by those who did not work? I would offer that they most certainly would be resentful and would rebel against working for the pleasure of others.

Take home message- socialism defies human nature and there is resentment created when one is providing work and products for the benefit of others who did not work to earn those benefits.
