The cut in FICA withholding was sold and intended from the beginning as temporary. You do know that Pres. Obama referred to the cut as a 'holiday?' 'Holiday' is a temporary respite. So by definition when the withholding goes back up it is not a 'tax increase.' Hence Norquist's statement.
Bush tax cuts were temporary also.

You do realize that the payroll tax cut funds SS and NOT the DOD, or subsidies of any sort? Maybe you don't....

No doubt about it; they are gift-wrapping another four years for Obama and will hand it to him next Nov.

I am so sick of this Norquist dude. How the hell does one guy get the whole damn republican party by the family jewels, and how in the hell is that good for America.

GOP claims to be the party of patriots and warriors fighting against Washington insiders and the like. How did they get to be lapdogs for a corporate shill, wetting themselves when he shows disapproval?

When was the last time we raised taxes on anyone after World War II, or before it?

Answer this and you'll get your answer as to why the republicans are so hesitant on raising taxes.
