In one local city here, they moved in (bought) a vacant building (it was a K-mart before) - they then build a bigger place up the road a bit (about a mile away, in another city). But they will not sell the other building. So it sits vacant. One big vacant eyesore. Many have inquired. One, even offered twice the amount that Walmart paid.
It's one of the only large commercial properties around. But they won't budge. They don't want another big box or discount retailer near.
It's their building and they can do what they want, but at what cost to the community?
I used to get quite a kick at the way Target kept building across the street or down the street from Walmart stores and really laughed when two that I know of built their really big buildings so they could put in the food part. Neither was built more than two or three blocks away but they sure left Target sitting there trying to get Walmart customers when they wanted to easily compare prices.
What you seem to fail to get your arms around is the very fact that CONSUMERS are the job creators. Without consumers purchasing goods or services there is no job creation. No livable wage jobs=no consumer purchases=no job creation.
Bring the jobs back to the US and pay livable wages and progress could be made.
And what you fail to understand is that it is those same consumers who demand cheap product. If they were not shopping there, wally world would not exist.

Because they are not receiving a livable wage. I don't fail to see anything, I see the problem and stand up for what it takes to correct it.
I also see that when wm is the only option, many people have no choice in some towns. wm is the leader in the race to the bottom for this nation.

What YOU fail to accept is there is no such thing as a livable wage.
Wages are paid based on the value of the work performed. NOT some utopian ideal.
Let me ask you a question. What is YOUR life worth?
Is you life worth $50, $100, $1,000, $10,000 dollars, more?
What do you pay the mechanic that does the brakes on your car?
Do you shop around for the lowest price?
Keep in mind, your life is at stake. If he does a faulty job you may die because your car can't stop.
By your criteria you should pay him whatever you think YOUR life is worth NOT what the market may pays for brake mechanics.

Then convince your family and friends not to shop there. Curious , where do you think the majority of wallmart employees would be working if they didnt work for wally world?

They don't shop there.
They would be working in the local stores, just as they did prior to the cess pool coming to town.

They would be working in local stores, for LESS than Wal-Mart wages, with FEWER benefits. Mom and Pops charged higher prices, paid their employees LOWER wages, offered ZERO benefits.
