Israel is really not that much better than any other religious state - it just so happens they're on our side (when they aren't sinking our ships, that is).

This is a tough one for the FoxNews crowd. Who to defend? Israel or Christmas?
Very simple....ISRAEL.

I couldn't care less.

They do not have our Constitution and they aren't a mostly Christian nation.

This isn't about Israel. Or even Christmas. This is about one Israeli mayor, unless you are saying this is an Israeli national policy and position?

However, I must say, as a Fox News viewer, I never had "blind support" for Israel, and I don't care for theocracies. I don't like saying "Jewish nation", "Muslim nations", "christian nations", and "Hindu nations" for that matter.....calling or describing a nation by the religion of some of its citizens alienates the citizens of that nation who may not share that religion....

In a perfect world, this wouldn't be an issue, in a perfect world we wouldn't have Muslim nations and a Jewish nation in the ME, but one NATION-made up of Jews, Christians and Muslims (and Hindus, Buddhists, and whatever for that matter...) I believe in the separation of church and State and in freedom of religion, but that's all just me...

They shouldn't be a "Jewish state." They should just be a State.....made up of Jews and others.

And since Christianty started in Israel, I would say they are a Christian country...Jesus wasn't born in Rome.

Why shouldn't they be a Jewish state? It is made up of many religions, but it is a Jewish state. You will find many countries in the region that are religious states, this type of arrangement is quite standard there.

By the way, Jews predated Christ in that region.

There should not be "religious states," I don't care what region they are in. As Americans, we are suppose to be against those "arrangements."

I know. I'm Catholic and know my faith and its history.

We are suppose to stand up for freedom in general and not theocracies. Supporting religous freedom at home but theocracies abroad is hypocritical and wrong. Also, I am a christian. I will stand up for and with my christian brethren where ever they are, even in Israel.

Israeli's are free. Prohibition of public displays of Christmas trees is nothing, compared to Copts being massacred.

Israel should be way down on your list of countries to get whipped into a frenzy about.
