So what you're saying is the people who live in northwest Arkansas should not be permitted to have a museum? I live in Colorado, am I allowed to have a museum?
Bentonville is a stupid place for a museum. In fact it is a stupid place for a fortune 500 company to have a headquarters. But it is Walmart's money and they can put it where they want. Many more people would see it in Little Rock or Tulsa though.

It is not about being "allowed" to have a museum. It is more a question of where logically such a thing should be put. In Colorado the only places where the most people can enjoy the attraction are Denver, Colorado Springs and maybe Boulder. But it is your money and if you want to build a big museum or the world's tallest building in Grand Junction, be my guest.

I'll bet they said the same thing for the baseball hall of fame...
Cooperstown NY?
Who ever heard of this stupid place?
This thread sounds more like another desperate plea of a liberal trying to get some type of money generator into his/her debt ridden socialist paradise....

Really? Why?
That's where it all started.
They prolly wouldn't even allow
a Wal Mart museum in New York.

It's a beautiful museum and the response has been outstanding. I visited on the November 9th, for the member preview. The earliest reservation I could get was 10pm, and the museum was packed. You still have to reserve admission, but hopefully in January that won't be necessary.
Admission to the museum is and will always be free. It's not just an attraction to the area, but also a tremendous resource. It's extensive art library is open to the public. And several generous donations have been to endow educational programs for children and adults.
That's good news. I wish it was better news, specifically, that local artists would be celebrated, because that to me is the true moral tragedy. There's a celebrated artist who lives in NYC full time most of his years. He hails from Tennessee and they ran him off. He is one of many. Food for thought about who the 'prejudiced snobs' might be.
That is about the saddest thing I have ever seen written on City Data.
No...that would be the ignorance displayed in the OP...
