If Conservatives had their way, gays would still be imprisoned/executed, blacks would still be banned from marriage or slaves, and women would be human incubators and the property of their husbands.

All traditional American values, most of which only recently were ended due to the rise of liberalism and progression.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Democrats

Historically, southern Democrats were generally much more ideologically conservative. In 1972, the last year that a sizable number of conservatives dominated the southern wing of the Democratic Party, the American Conservative Union gave higher ratings to most southern Democratic Senators and Congressmen than it did to Republicans.

In the 19th century, they were the definitive pro-slavery wing of the party, opposed to both the anti-slavery Republicans (GOP) and the more liberal Northern Democrats.

Southern Democrats largely stayed as conservative as they had always been, with some even breaking off to form farther right-wing splinters like the Dixiecrats. After the Civil Rights Movement successfully challenged the Jim Crow laws and other forms of institutionalized racism, and after the Democrats as a whole came to symbolize the mainstream left of the United States, the form, if not the content, of Southern Democratic politics began to change. At that point, most Southern Democrats defected to the Republican Party, and helped accelerate the latter's transformation into a more conservative organization.

No matter how you try to spin it, Liberalism means a fundamental belief in liberty, equality, and the idea that all men are created equal. Conservatives on the other hand strongly believe that some humans are more worthy than others.

Okay, who among prominent conservatives want to return to segregation and slavery?

No, that's what we call "leftists."

I know they taught you wrong at Bob Jones U, but liberals and leftists aren't the same thing any more than conservative and fascists are the same thing.

I don't think NK is what it is because of faith in government...LOL...as if anyone has a choice to have faith or not.

You equate liberal with authoritarian. That's stoopid.

Liberalism is the belief in the state over the individual, it is antithetical to freedom.

The right wing loonies show the ignorance once again.

Neither true conservatives nor true liberals tolerate authoritarianism.

The rest is semantic nonsense.
