Except the First Amendment right for them to call their union whatever they want.
And if they had a religious wedding, there are Free Exercise rights rights involved as well.
You can call it whatever the hell you want, they can still call it a marriage.
Really, what is the flippin' point of calling it something different just because it rankles you?
Gay marriage doesn't affect your rights no matter what they call it.
But...but...but, I thought this was ONLY about the SAME RIGHTS as marriage? Are you now saying that WAS NOT their goal to begin with? Are you saying their goal is to throw stones at religion?
...I see this whole thing as nothing more than an attempt of all groups that want division of our people pushing their secularist beliefs on the rest of us...
Roy, can you explain how secular/religious plays into the legal status and contract of being "married"? This issue does not involve any church or religion in any way, as far as I can see.
No, but it can definitely lead to polygamy. Polygamists are already set to jump on it as soon as gay marriage is passed in all states.
And as long as all parties are consenting adults, I have zero problems with polygamy, as well.
If someone is crazy enough to want to have to deal with more than one spouse, more power to them.
