Ah toasters. And don't forget the whole "think of the children" arguement where we are going to teach kindergardners how to have anal sex. That always seems to come up too.

"As long as my gay friends totally suppressed and hid their true personality from me, I was okay with them. Why can't it be like the good old days, where gays would be ostracized, beaten, or killed for revealing their sexual orientation?" - An old person

Yes, I'm serious. This is how they think and the reason they don't support gay rights. In this day and age, they are too embarrassed to come out and say this but this because of how absurd it sounds but this is what they believe. It just shows how backward the Christian Taliban aka Evangelicals are in this country. Again, I'm not referring to all Christians. 80% of Christians are normal, I'm referring to the extremist Taliban version aka Evangelicals.
And this is why gay rights will be an everlasting battle. You don't fight ignorance with ignorance. Belittling someone because of their beliefs because they don't believe or support your beliefs doesn't make you look any better.

Explain where in the Bible Jesus said it was ok to be an idiot. (Social conservatives scratch their heads because they just can't understand the question).

It seems that this need to be said, as people seem to think Gay Rights means all sorts of weird things.

It will not lead to bestiality or marrying toasters.
No, but it can definitely lead to polygamy. Polygamists are already set to jump on it as soon as gay marriage is passed in all states.

But the whole point is: why should they have to be "closeted" while you don't? Just because there are more of your type who got to make the "rules" in some book a long time ago?

They don't need to be closeted but they also don't need to change the meaning of marriage. No 2 men or 2 women or one man and 4 women, etc, etc, etc.

And?

As long as it's between consenting adults only, who cares?

Then let's come up with another word for it that confers the same legal status and social understanding.

How about partnership. I also don't buy what does it harm? The children are watching and learning. Plus, it deprives children from a father or mother that lives in the home with them. And yes, divorce of straights is harmful as well but 2 wrongs don't make a right.
