One would suppose that when the current union contract expires, Colt could move offshore just as easily as moving to Florida.

I really like Colt revolvers,..but there was a time that Colt was boycotted by shooters for (1) political reasons (statement by management re: regulation), (2) quality of the product. The company is still not on a secure financial footing, and may be looking to contract labor costs to stay viable. But, the move from Connecticutt to Florida wouldn't be a lot more difficult than moving to Mexico.
