The unemployed need an Anti Defamation League and a movement similar to what the blacks in the South had for Civil Rights. They just want jobs, and are being called lazy. Some firms want to make their condition permanent by refusing to hire them. Remember when workers looked forward to their days off? Now the unemployed long for the day they can work again (or for recent college graduates, for the first time). Most of all, they need to make the politicians take notice!

People aren't equal no matter what anyone says. Nobody is entitled to a job.
You know you've run out of arguments when you repeatedly pull the "I'm older than you" card.
No, I don't have an advanced degree. I still manage to pull contracts making $40-100 per hour, and I consider myself overqualified for most of those. PHP is a toy language.
My common sense tells me that with more experience and more certifications (got 2 this month) I'll make more, not less.
But by all means, please tell me all about this traumatic event that will occur on my 25th birthday. You're not going to let me fall right into it are you? That's not a very liberal and caring thing to do.
When you get older, the most important lesson you will have learned is to never say "never." Life happens, situations change, and people like you find themselves humbled.
23 years old and you think you have all the answers.
The IT department is not directly related to a companies bottom line. Nobody wants to deal with an arrogant system admin or helpdesk tech either . Whether you believe it or not. The business won't crumble when they fire the old guy and hire and train a new guy. You were once a new guy too.
Actually, it pretty much will. You have no idea what would happen if the other engineers and I walked off. It wouldn't be pretty, and no, nobody could just walk in and pick it up.

Yes, I'm the miserable one because I call a spade a spade and point out this clown's endless array of excuses. Then again, I wouldn't expect someone who is such a blind pullstring toy for partisan lines to be able to understand what's going on there. Calling a centrist a tea party member....yup, you're about as clueless as they come

Yes, they should TOTALLY form an association for people who don't want to work or have no skills to not be talked badly about. After all, living on the dole is a RIGHT!

Oh looky, more useless party line talking points ("through no fault of their own"). Sorry lady, but if you've been out of work for 2 years, the fault is all you.
What do the "long-term unemployed" do to boost the economy?
According to some people here, they're spending LOTS of money on XBox games, booze/pot, and fancy dinners... stimulating the economy while being a dreg, I suppose?
Big whoop! You're probably no more than 25, either. Just wait a few years!
I was 33 when I got laid off, and found a job in about 6 months... a bit longer than usual for my field, but I still managed to find something. I understand it's much harder for older folks (like 50+), but until then it usually doesn't make a difference. Actually works in your favor sometimes, as a 35 year-old typically has more experience than a 25 year-old.

What about people who want to work, have no skills, and are not living on the dole?
The big corporations love unemployment. It's way cheaper for them than bringing back all those jobs they have been shipping overseas for the past 30 years. When the top people in those companies get their million dollar bonuses do you think they care about you? Well, obviously they don't. Looks like the old saying "Crime doesn't pay." is outdated.

Works against you sometimes, too: a 35 year old burger flipper probably has fewer opportunities than a 25 year old burger flipper, with opportunities declining over time.
