Rest well, Hitch. Your time among us was well spent.

Preposterous .... laughable ... words fail me.

If I started listing the lies for which Hitchens is infamous, I'd be here all day, so for a short recap, I would just say "Neocon" support of the 911 fairytale and the undying support of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the lies associated with those deadly disasters.

You'll find enough lies there to keep you busy ... and we're only talking about a snippet of time in Hitchen's career. For to address the total body of lies making up his entire career would take a team.

RIP Mr. Hitchens, the world is a much better place because you were in it.

That is scientifically proven - there is your evidence. So, does an afterlife prove there is a God? It proves there is much beyond this world that we presently experience. Reality is illusive.

I think that aphorism certainly defines Hitchen quite nicely, though not at all a positive, and neither the aphorism or he should be considered "immortal" for a lengthy list of reasons. (if you get my drift) Now that I've said that, I suppose an explanation is in order.

An assertion, either with or without evidence gives rise to further thought, discussion, analysis and debate, and are what open minds consider to be a seed of intellectual growth. To dismiss without evidence is the act of a closed mind, ending further thought, discussion, analysis and debate, which becomes the murder weapon in the death of intellectual pursuit. This, I find to be deliciously ironic given the status attributed to Hitchen as a leading intellectual.

In my humble opinion (har, har, har - I threw in the humble part to tickle your sense of humor) Hitchen was an intellectual nightmare, who took it upon himself to embrace the very worst aspects of left and right wing ideological thought, and combine them to create something greater. Apparently, Hitchen subscribed to the notion that by positioning two .45 cal pistols to both left and right temples, and pulling both triggers simultaneously, one would cancel out the other. Unfortunately, the results were psychological linguine spread far and wide, which pretty much sums up Hitchen's world view, if such a summary is even possible.

This Oxford & Cambridge educated lunatic turned bleeding heart liberal Socialist Atheist homosexual, turned right wing war mongering neocon apologist married man with children Atheist (WOW) apparently didn't know an irony too large for him, a contradiction he would not personify, or a hypocrisy he would not promulgate. The only consistency I can find in the man is his unrelenting Godlessness.

Throw into this mix a prolific overuse of his trusty thesaurus which allowed him to baffle his mere mortal readership with tantric exercises in vocabularism, as if his twisting thought patterns were not up to the task alone .... and it's no wonder some people would mistake this severe mental disorientation as a form of genius.

But the one thing Hitchen did accomplish ... he proved evolution to be a false construct. Starting off life in well to do comfort, with the luxury of the finest education .... he died a socialist liberal war mongering neocon apologist and staunch globalist who could no more corral his sexual confusions than he could sort the immeasurable contradictions deeply embedded in his political world view. Or, more simply, he left this world being more confused than when he entered it.

If shear volume of conflicting thoughts were to be the only point of measure, a great thinker he might be ... but if coherency should play any role, not so much.

You are so correct about energy.....but heaven and hell are both right here, right now.

I knew such a statement would be uttered on this thread. Just didn't think it would be on the first page.

Congrats LLMG.

Energy is not conciousness and when we die, our conciousness/brain dies and we are no more. The transferance of energy has nothing to do with completely fictional places like heaven and hell. If I'm reading your statement correctly, you're claiming that because energy doesn't die, there must be an afterlife? I guess you're right if you're characterizing afterlife as a bacteria consuming your corpse as energy. If you're asserting that it means our conciousness survives death, then you just made up something irrational.
