If we'd had a few more of them, maybe some of you Shock & Awe types wouldn't have been quite so gung-ho for the predetermined disaster that is Iraq...
This doesn't make any sense. Movies will not prevent people from being either agressive or passive. There will always be wars and rumours of wars period. Anyone who thinks otherwise? Well, give me some of what you are smoking because I want to get loaded too !!! Massacres such as My Lai will unfortunately continue to happen as long as the sun continues to provide energy. These atrocities will be committed by all sides in every conflict. They are morally wrong for sure but they will happen. War does things to people that are beyond belief. If you had been in one you would know this.....I am a Viet Nam veteran and a shock and awe type...A movie such as one being made about My Lai doesn't change a thing for me.......................

Yes, movies and the media ARE very influential, especially on those young minds who have been fed a steady diet of trash and violence, plopped in front of the free "babysitter" all their lives. Maybe it won't (or will) change an ADULT mind about a political issue or war, but it does affect those who don't yet have a frame of reference for reality. Get a clue.
With that said, yes, there will always be wars and wars and wars, that is a humanity issue, and most likely not going to go away. But something can be done about the hazardous effect the media has on young minds. But people have to care for that to happen.... Staying out of denial, and staying in reality very difficult it seems for all ages.
