Pretty easy comparison. Clinton was a state Gov. who also ran for POTUS while in office, as was GW Bush, as was Jimmy Carter, etc......... . It is highly likely all of them also were drawing retirement in a similar manner.
As to trying to tie earned retirement and being against it to fiscal conservatism, sorry, you lost me there.
Perry is NOT retired. He's collecting a pension he earned by working the job he's still working. He's "double dipping" and the taxpayers of the State of Texas (of which I am one) are paying for it.
How many other presidential candidates have you investigated to see whether they have done the same thing or not?
I mean, just to see if you are partisan or not, thanx
Hahahahaha. I vote for Republicans about 80% of the time. I have voted for Perry himself in fact.
I have not "investigated" any presidential candidate to see whether they have done this, including Perry. I noticed an article, read it, and posted it.

Apparently your state laws regarding pensions allow for the collection of retirement to begin within "x" number of months before the actual start date of retirement. Likely this is the norm for state employees of a certain category.
Most likely as has been stated before he is drawing from pension "B" level while still working at "A" level. This is not double dipping since the retirement would have been earned in two different job categories.
Just pointing out that you might be jumping to conclusions about the "double dipping" claim in haste without knowing all the details.

You mean he's doing the same thing Americans do after they retire from the military?
Apparently he "officially" retired earlier this year even though he is still governor.
I wonder if the Star Telegram will be able to come up with the same kind of numbers for Obama once he is ready to leave DC. His retirement from we, the taxpayers, will amount to over $400,000 per year after working 2 years in the Senate and 4 years as President. He will draw down some real money compared to what Perry will get from Texas.
