Nah, who needs them? Or cops, doctors/nurses and firefighters, for that matter? Let 'em ALL have the day off!

FWIW, my best friend is a Jewish nurse... and back when she worked on the floor (she's now in admin), she would always offer to work Christmas & Easter. The holiday pay (1.5x) was one motivation, but she also did it "in good faith" - and so nobody would whine if she requested the High Holy Days.

Most of the time I say Merry Christmas, but I'll also use happy holidays.

Yom Kippur always occurs on the 10th day of Tishrei.

acoording to my friend who has taught me quite a bit since I met him in KCMO in 1993 and is a survivor. he has told me that when in doubt in greeting, saying "shalom" to a hebrew would not be wrong as it means "peace".

I have been out of work for months and this seasonal job is the only way I can afford Christmas presents for my children. "Christmas" presents?!? I asked her if she meant "holiday" presents?? She just looked confused. Needless to say, I talked to her boss and had her fired. Another casualty in the war on Christmas bah hahahahaha! Take that Christmas celebrators!

really? you must be the liberal type that hates the poor instead. glad you enjoyed making an ass of yourself.

the only reason there are holidays during that time is because of christmas. if christmas was not at that time, there would be no holiday either.

Same here - I say Merry Christmas and it's best not to stereotype people, like someone with a Jewish last name might not be of the Jewish religion anyhow, and there are Jewish people who put up Christmas trees and celebrate Christmas. It's best never to assume or stereotype, and same goes for Middle Easterners, they aren't all Muslims, many are Christians, and celebrate Christmas.

I've been on the front lines of the war in Christmas since you were in diapers. Where were you in the Battle of Hayseed, Kansas, Christmas of '85? We kicked down every door in that podunk hicksville and cleared every house of all Christmas decorations. We replaced them with sanatized "holiday" decorations.
