Absolutely it was. Listen to this scholar on Constitutional law explain it.
Herb Titus? Really?
The guy who drafted the "Constitution Restoration Act" which sought to actually overturn the Constitution in favor of a right-wing Christian theocracy, and take out of federal court jurisdiction cases that involved public officials that acknowledged God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government?
And since there existed only a single definition in the entire English language at the time of the Constitution's framing, there is no ambiguity or uncertainty on that issue.
Anyone born on US soil who is not the child of a foreign diplomat or alien army in hostile occupation is a natural born US citizen.

That Herb Titus?
Yes, he is absolutely correct on his astute assertion of what it means to be a natural born citizen.
Prove it. Show me a single example of a contrary definition that could be found anywhere in the English language prior to the Framing of the Constitution.
A single example.
If you are telling the truth, this should be a trivial excessive.
What I find interesting is that John McCain actually was not born on US soil (he was born in Panama) yet had he become POTUS, not a single one of these birther idiots would have an issue with John McCain's foreign birth.
Or plain "ole" denial from die hard Obama supporters.
Actually, I have reality and common sense on my side...your "side" not so much.
