What do I care? I'm not a Democrat. And I wonder how many of those people have spoken out against gay marriage?
Either way, you always have to pick the lesser of two (or many) equals when deciding who to support. A politician's stance on gay marriage is important to me, but not the only important thing by far.
While noting that "the lesser of two equals" would be a contradiction in terms, I agree with your sentiment concerning "gay marriage" (another oxymoron). With millions out of work, our military knee-deep in Vietnam II, our schools failing, and our healthcare system hopelessly muddled, his whole debate is essentially trivial, except as it reflects the intolerance for opposing views exhibited by both ends of the political spectrum.
A "kiss in?" How pathetic! If one does not share the same views as Cathy, then don't eat at his restaurant! Simple as that. I sure as hell don't want to see anybody, straight or gay, making out in a public restaurant.
Most of those donors are in the southern states, a region is overwhelmingly Repub. They may be donating for the Repub's economic reasons, not to promote blatant anti-gay laws. There is a difference between donating for economic/business reasons and the outright donating to hold a group of Americans from being granted their civil rights.
Wish it was that but, it wasn't - and they were yelling some really objectionable stuff - I told them how good the food was on my way out.
That went over well!!!
Why did you feel the need to "boast"? Couldn't you just have eaten your meal even if it meant that perhaps you had to be "the bigger person?" Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that you get a rise from acting that way to these folk.

Yeah - when people were acting so stupid - getting into the face of patrons going in for a meal - I had no problem getting into their face right back.

You could have started a dialogue with them? You seem to want to eagerly chat the topic on this forum. could you have used the opportunity to get some feedback off of them face to face? Just a thought.
