Last week, some on this board were gloating about how the Payroll Tax Extension Bill was a BIG WIN for the GOP.

Guess someboy forgot to tell the GOP-controlled HR. Even veteran Republicans are trying to understand Speaker Boehner's sudden about-face on the Payroll Tax Cut Extension/Keystone Pipeline deal that just passed the Senate 89-10.

Senate, House on collision course over payroll tax cut extension - The Washington Post

Best guess: Boehner is feeling the TP pitchforks in his back again. They never liked the middle-class tax cut to begin with- less for their corporate masters!!!

Besides, why hand Obama a win, any win, on the eve of his SOTU speech? Whadya wanna do, give people the impression he's a leader or something? Or that government is working?

Can't have that!!

I say Obama should keep them in Washington over the holidays until they all beg for mercy. The last thing they deserve is a nice long paid vacation.

I just love the infighting that is going on in the GOP.

Interesting how the right wing trolls were blabbing how it's all Reid's fault for holding up the bill, when Boehner is the one whos doing it! Oh the irony!

Because Boehner doesn't want a 2-month tax cut "extension" and instead wants it to be for a full year, as does Obama.

The House GOP is a joke. It's amateur hour there.

True, the Dems wanted a one-year extension.

But the GOP was opposed. They wanted to keep the volatile budget issues alive, so they could play "chicken" with Obama every couple months till election time, and demonstrate what a "lousy leader" he is.

Wonder what happened to change their minds? Maybe they saw the latest polls showing Obama is winning the head-to-heads with the GOP do-nothing congress.

That's why they are balking at extending the payroll tax cut. They don't want to see anything help the economy because they think that will help Obama. It's all politics with the GOP now, they don't give a damn about the economy.
