Wonder why the MSM has mentioned this poll from Gallup? The MSM was probably too busy coddling the OWS crowd,....and supporting Obama's big government programs.

Stick a fork in OWS,...they're DONE,....and hopefully Obama is next.
Americans' concerns about the threat of big government continue to dwarf those about big business and big labor, and by an even larger margin now than in March 2009. The 64% of Americans who say big government will be the biggest threat to the country is just one percentage point shy of the record high, while the 26% who say big business is down from the 32% recorded during the recession.
In U.S., Fear of Big Government at Near-Record Level

I think this is just the Fox News effect. What the hell have the Republicans been able to accomplish in the last ten year except scare the American people with phony threats. Iraqi mushroom clouds, gays out to steal your marriage, Obama turning us into socialist regime. This has nothing to do with the actual government, which is center-right, but speaks to the effectiveness of the right wing propaganda.

Interesting that the fear of the government seems to be a long-term trend. I did not know that. I wonder why conservatives support invasive laws like the Patriot Act, and massive military spending, if they are afraid of the government.

Everyone doesn't watch Fox News. ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, MSNBC, CNN,...etc.,..etc.,...ALL have news programs with their own slant. IMO, your Fox News comment doesn't hold water, since many independents and most liberals don't take Fox seriously anyway. I'm of the opinion that most people don't sit around watching a lot of television, or listening to a lot of radio,...but they get just enough information to understand that the government is too big and too intrusive.

I also found it interesting that the vast majority of Americans do not share the administrations views regarding business. Americans do not perceive large companies to be as much a problem as big government.

You could be right. I did not know the numbers were so high. I wonder how much of the rise has to do with the SS/Medicare meltdown we all know is coming. That is surely scary, as no one seems willing to do anything about it, but it is coming sure as death and taxes.

I am amazed that more people are not worried about big business, with all the power they have aggregated in recent years.

Anyhow, it would be interesting to hear what about "big government" has folks so worried.

Conservatives want big government, to monitor what people are doing, to promote a certain religion (guess which one that is!), to swiftly deal with all dissent.

Many people who complain about big government have no problem collecting government money or aid, whether it's Medicare, Social Security , or subsidies. These same anti big government types also oppose legalizing pot, legalizing gay marriages, and keeping abortion legal.

The only way the government can get to big.. is for the people to FEAR it.

We don't have real courageous individuals anymore.. sure there are some like Ron Paul. But most everyone else has already sold their soul to the god of practicality. No great nation has been great because of characteristics of fear, debt, ignorance, hatefulness, inhumanity.

In order to be great again we must have, the people individually that is, the characteristics of courage, honor, truthfulness even when it goes against your morally ingrained beliefs, respect, and tolerance.

Thank goodness for the internet. MSM does not care to divulge what the American People really care about or who the real front runner candidates are any more than Hollywood presents how real people actually live in their so-called "reality" shows.

Its taken a near economic collapse, but people have woken from their long snooze to come to their senses and realize that BIG GOVERNMENT = BIG WASTE. 2012 is the time to clean house and downsize.
