If it weren't so pathetic, it'd be sad.

What does your rant have to do with trash cans?

Pathetic is your post.

Yes, and it would be true.

We have way too many laws. And we spend way too much money on LE because of the proliferation of useless laws.

Since the dates the restrictions apply run from October 1st to April 1st, which happens to the same time period most snow removal contracts apply, I'm guessing that's the reason why they don't want the trash cans put out early. It interferes with snow removal and most cities will make an example out of someone at the beginning of the season just to call attention to the law. The article says they don't want the trash cans blocking the sidewalks during certain hours. That's important during the winter months where they'd be no where else to walk but the street and/or the sidewalks don't get plowed because they are blocked with trash cans during the hours the sidewalk plowers are restricted to work within.

The garbage rules were changed in 2009 and it didn't say how residents of the city were notified of the changed laws. I guess they are finding out via fines.

The guy has been doing it for 30 years with no problems. The law has been there since 2009 but now is being enforced.

Sounds more like NYC is looking for sources of $$$ because more than likely these are honest folks who will just pay the fines and be done with it. Like I said..easy money.

Have you read the laws around how to dispose of CFLs? I suspect that every CFL owner in the USA is a criminal.

Well, while at it, let us get rid of the law that requires proper disposal of used automotive oil (etc) too.

NYC sanitation doesn't do sidewalks..that is the owner's responsibility or the landlord's responsibility and they cannot shovel it into the street either and they have to have it shoveled in so much time after the snow stops falling.

Yeah the snowplows could care less if your garbage can is sitting there. They come roaring down the street and bury anything. Hell if your standing there better have an avalanche rescue team on the ready. Never fails I shovel off my driveway and here they come to bury the end again laughing as they do it. I'll get em back one day!!!!! LOL
