Is it possible? Could the image-meisters at the
White House really have insisted that Bo be flown back to Washington for a quick photo op with the home-alone president?

That would raise pretty valid questions about whether taxpayers paid for the flight.

We asked first lady
Michelle Obama's office and quickly got an answer:

"Bo has been in DC this whole time."

So much for this wingnut thread!

"Mrs. Obama, accompanied by daughters Sasha and Malia, boarded a US government jet just a few hours ahead of the President, who flew into a local airport later that evening accompanied by Bo, the family dog."

Got that? Bo was with the President and arrived in DC after Michelle and kids left for Hawaii. And this is from an article that's quite hostile to the Obamas.

This is the funniest thread I've ever read. We got bloggers reporting on the mutt, Meechele's office claiming poor old Bo was here and there, confirmed and unconfirmed sitings of the first mutt. Then he pops up at the store gettin himself a dog bone. Bo has it all figured out that's for sure.

I think that just about sums it up.

The article mentions MANY innocuous reasons this could hav happened.

1.) The guy who said he saw the dog in Hawaii, was mistaken. (Is there really someone who cares so much, that he keeps track of Obama's DOG?)
2.) When the plane that brought Michelle to Hawaii was ready to go back, someone in the White House said, "Hey, can you put the dog on the plane and ask someone to look after him till the plane lands? We need him for a photo-op."

I'm reminded of the time Franklin Roosevelt's opponents accused him of diverting a U.S. warship to bring his dog Fala back to him. That one was completely fake too.

Someone here clearly has too much time on his hands.
Yep.

Occam's Razor:

Which is more likely?

a) Bo never made the Hawai'i trip, and someone saw a dog near Michelle and the kids mistakenly thought it was Bo, or

b) Bo went to Hawai'i, and only after the plane left did the White House decide that the most important thing they could do in December 21, and that it couldn't possibly wait, was a photo-op to a pet store, at all costs, so they had Bo flown back in Air Force One (well, the wild-eyed conspiracy probably has him riding on the lap of a pilot in the cockpit of an SR-71, rolled out of mothballs specifically because it would do Honolulu-DC in under two hours, but I digress...)

In the frothing-at-the-mouth world of people like the OP, the latter explanation makes perfect sense ...

Personally, I see no reason to discourage such lunacy. The only people to which these deranged ramblings have any appeal would never under any circumstances support Obama, and to the remaining 95% of the population they just look exactly as they are -- unhinged and completely detached from reality.

Good grief, man! That article is referring to the Martha's Vineyard vacation.

Here's the entire quote:
Quote:
"Mrs. Obama, accompanied by daughters Sasha and Malia, boarded a US government jet just a few hours ahead of the President, who flew into a local airport later that evening accompanied by Bo, the family dog. The First Lady also had "her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence." The cost of the four-hours-early arrival for the Martha's Vineyard summer vacation 2011 was reported to be around $100,000."

You do know that the correspondent was not standing by the plane before it took off when there could have been a last minute change in the plans about the dog getting on board? A last minute change about the dog wouldn't have been enough for the First Lady to say, "Hold the presses, call the correspondent and tell them about Bo wanting to stay behind with his daddy president."
