The Bush Timetable means nothing considering the fact that Bush would not have been in office and able to implement the exit from Iraq (and McCain has stated that he would not have puller troops out of Iraq)
President Obama is to be applauded for not continuing with the US policy of always being a "Captain Save a Ho" to the rest of the (oil rich) nations of the world. America never should have been in Iraq and we lost the lives of over 4500 US soldiers for the sake of the Bush vendetta against Saddam. President Obama is the only one who was able to get the job done in under 4 years by ridding the world of Osama and Gaddhafi.
No different than Obamacare kicking in 2014...2 years AFTER the next election. Obama might not be there when it kicks in.
Plenty of bills don't get implemented or started/ended during a President's current administration. The deals are made not based on a certain President being in office at that time.
Ugh. What the heck happened to you with Ron Paul? I'm with him on foreign policy and civil liberties but he'd be an absolute disaster for the middle class and poor's standard of living with his economic policy. I had you pegged differently.
Foreign policy and civil liberties are where he'd have the most impact. His economic policies would be at least as different from the normal plutocratic GOP policies as the Democratic ones are; I see no reason to assume they would damage the economy or the general standard of living. And certain ideas like auditing the Fed are quite overdue.
My major reservation about Ron Paul is not about the Congressman himself, but some of the people he might attract to Washington whose views might be a little less balanced. But given the other options, it's a reasonable chance to take.
He didn't exactly keep his promise. There are still 17,000 private contractors there which WE are all paying for which isn't cheap.
Bringing the troops home the way Obama did it was just a PR stunt to make people think he delivered on a promise but 17k Americans are still over there.
17,000 private contractors there which are there of their own free will!

Actually, important parts of Obamacare are already in effect. My adult son got coverage, after being turned down by Kaiser due to a pre-existing condition, through the State of California Pre-existing Insurance Plan (PCIP). This program is available right now in all 50 states

"Obamacare" is actually a godsend to many of the ignorant chain smoking, beer bellied, deep-fried Twinkie eating Americans who are railing against it.
So why didn't he pull out troops as soon as he took office? The result would have been the same.
You know what i do have that tape of him stating that within 6 months of him taking office, our torops would start to come home. Yep had to tape him saying this, and so much more garbage.
Within 6 months ha!
