People have been saying that we were in the end times for a long time, are we this time? Or is there no such thing? Just wondering what you think.

There are no endings... only new beginnings.

I hope we can end centuries of superstition and let that giant pile of festering religious turd turn to mulch which will fertilize new sprouting minds that exist in a higher perspective... or at least finish High School with semi-decent test scores.

No. People have been proclaiming they are in the end times since the start of time. Doomsayers are the most consistently wrong group in all history, yet suckers keep perpetuating it. That places them at the pinnacle of fools.

In 1980 Pat Robertson said: "I guarantee by the end of 1982 there is going to be a judgment on this world."

He believed that as of 1980, the Anti-Christ was about 27 years old and that Armageddon would start in 1982 followed by 7 "nightmare years" of intense suffering.

I was relieved when Regan left the White House in 1989 too. They were rough years... only He-Man and my Big Wheel got me through the apocalypse.

Here's a related question - was there any period of time, even briefly, when people didn't believe that the "end-times" were nigh?

Are there records of preachers looking around and saying, "No. The end-times aren't particularly close. It's going to be at least a few dozen more years, at this rate"?

Is that something that has ever happened? Because it would seem as though the end-times are always just around the corner...
