So, it would appear that this issue, from the religious standpoint, should not be one of segregating women nor forcing them to dress in a certain way, but of men learning how to control their lower impulses.
A similar thing occurs among Muslims, with the garb some force their women to wear. All that the Koran says is that men and women are to dress modestly, yet the men are evidently so fearful of their lack of control of their own impulses that they force women to dress in what looks like bedsheets.
