And there you have it. Orlando Cuisine.
lol. Orlando isnt really the south. Its a tourist trap.

S. Florida, Las Olas and Cuban cuisine (which is wonderful)...you are NOT in the "south" .

Every state has horrible chains, true. Problem is unless you are near diverse cities, it gets even more limited.

I liked Emeril's recipes, he did alot with Portuguese and fusion recipes.

Paula deen makes too many cakes and not enough diversity. But its not like she cares now she can make money selling cheap recipes on Oprah how take make a fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich and people now buy her books.

I tuned her out when she had Donald Trumps son on her show once and they were cackling how they like a nice Big Mac once in awhile ...Puhleeeze....

I ate at Commanders back when he was the chef there, and it was absolutely top notch. I've been to his own restaurants since and the quality hasn't waned a bit.
Okay.

As for Paula Deen, my wife has made some of her recipes, and i can't complain. If i ever have a chance, i'd like to hit up her restaurant in Georgia if by some miracle i find myself down there again.
I wouldn't bother.

Just finished reading a great article on Prudhomme.

Meh...i don't doubt it. But when it comes to great cuisine, let's just say that Orlando wouldn't pop up in anyone's mind.

I find the whole town to be lame anyway. It's great if you have kids (ONE TIME), but it does nothing for me otherwise. Las Vegas for children, more or less.

I'm a Chicago/San Fran/New York/Philly/Buffalo/Detroit/Seattle-Portland/New Orleans type of guy.
