As long as you can make fun of hayseeds, homophobes. fundamentalist Christains, southerners, rednecks, meatheads, cavemen, and other species of Republican, I have no complaints. No assumption on my part. Worked for me as a kid and also worked for my son in school and worked for a colleagues daughter in her school.
Yeah...that's right..THREE experiences in my little world that worked when "old fashioned values" were used.
I punched a kid when I was in early elementary school for making fun of me for being Jewish. He got a bloody nose and stopped for about 2 days.
Next thing we knew, we had a cross burned on our lawn. And the bullying far from stopped. This was the early 90s in what was then rural Georgia.
My family had to move to a school district that was a little more diverse (ie. we might still be the only Jews but *gasp* kids were exposed to Catholics! And black people once in a while!) because the bullying was non-stop no matter what I did and the school said it was just kids being kids. We still got bullied for our religion in the new school, but the teachers took it serious. Surprise surprise - that was much more effective than the "old fashioned way".
WTF happened to this country? Everyone is so easily offended. You cant anything remotely negative about: Jews, gays, religion, "midgets", blacks, conservatives, women, etc... Without any public backlash!
When did America become such a nation of pansy's? What happened to the good old days when you can just speak your mind? Toughen up people. This is getting embarrasing for this country amongst other things that there are to be embarrased about. There's too much political correctness going on.
