Burning your own flag is like spitting on the threshhold of your own house...you just don't insult yourself in such a manner - No matter what - family is family...and a nation that spits on itself will not survive - do the flag burners not understand that - Once they tear down the establishement THEY HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO REPLACE IT WITH- It will be from the frying pan into the fire. If they want change - let them dedicate their lives to running our institutions - let them sacrifice their time to a better world - but that would mean work and real social repsonsiblity...and real effort -- but it is easier to stand and whine - and burn your own banner - stupid!

What the flag symbolizes is what's important. THAT will survive any and every symbol that you can dream up.
The arson bit is amusing, because it means they must have set fire to something else in the process of burning the flag. If not, well, that department is going to be in a wonderful legal battle for the next couple of months.
Not sure why this is always such a huge deal. The right has been ruled as protected under our Constitution.
While it may be protected it's highly offensive to many people. The irony here is they are burning the flag of a nation in what must be one of a few where they won't be jailed or even killed for it.

bad form, bad policy, bad protestors.
