Thatcher wanting a state funeral, strange that some would rank her alongside Nelson, Wellington and Churchill.
This should be the standard for a Commoner, state funeral for a politician should require greatness to be generally uncontested. Many Britons not persuaded, to put it mildly.

Maybe some have forgotten that Thatcher was never and never would be head of state.

Of course with her being so keen on privatisation maybe a privitised funeral would go well.
