“Get a load of some of the crazy things he’s said and done, like taking his two-hour-old baby when it died right after child birth home and played with it so that his other children would know that the child was real,” the liberal pundit said in a Fox News interview.
He said this on Fox News today and was deservedly pummeled by Lowry.
Wow, so crazy. Staying with your dead child for a few hours in the hospital, then taking him home so the other children can meet him and say their goodbyes.
See, this is how liberals like Colmes think, that something as loving as what the Santorums did was "crazy".
As much as I dislike Santorum, I can't really criticize him for this. I can't imagine how having your newborn child die before it even leaves the hospital would feel. It does seem weird to me but this comment from the ABC article says it best

how he and his wife chose to handle the loss of their child, and whatever bizarre method they might have had to handle their grief, it is not right to attack him on this issue. We should accord him the respect to follow his own instincts in this matter.

What is wrong with people like alan colmes?
The first part of the bolded part is fine, the 2nd part is where it gets a little strange....
I can't imagine how it must feel to lose a child, I do know someone who has. I really feel for Santorum and his wife in the loss of their child and all people deal with death in a different manner, but bringing it home to meet your kids and sleeping with it I just can't wrap my head around.
Not defending Colmes, but you can't deny that the way Santorum handled it was very strange, to say the least.

What happened after the death is a kind of snapshot of a cultural divide. Some would find it discomforting, strange, even ghoulish — others brave and deeply spiritual. Rick and Karen Santorum would not let the morgue take the corpse of their newborn; they slept that night in the hospital with their lifeless baby between them. The next day, they took him home. ”Your siblings could not have been more excited about you
Just pray those of you who want to criticize them for their actions never have to walk in their shoes. I have and you have no idea what you would do. You want to attack someone for this is beyond reprehensible.

Meh...Santorum isn't a particularly sympathetic figure anyway. It aint like he's above saying insensitive things about people. He doesn't like the taste of the medicine, and i'm not surprised.

Exactly right. There is NOTHING bizarre about how they handled his death. Why do leftists think it bizarre?
