I wasn't sure if I should post this in the Washington State forum or the Politics and Controversies forum but decided that it would no doubt get "political and controversial," so I decided to post it here.

Gov. Chris Gregoire is slated to declare her support for same-sex marriage on Wednesday morning before a gathering of marriage equality supporters in Olympia. Gregoire
Gregoire is announcing her position on what promises to be a major issue before the upcoming 2012 session of the Washington Legislature. Lawmakers have already adopted sweeping “everything but marriage” laws defining rights of domestic partners.
I am so happy about this. I have actually been a little disappointed in Governor Gregoire because she has seemed, to me, to be reluctant to endorse marriage equality, while still supporting "partnership rights."
I've also been a little jealous of the states who have already legalized same sex marriage - I like to think those of us on the West Coast are pretty progressive.
I'm not sure what the process will be or how long it will take, but I so support this and hope that Washington can soon be added to the list of progressive and fair states that has marriage equality.
What rain? LOL We *almost* had the driest December in history and January, at least the first full week, doesn't have a huge amount of rain being predicted. At least, there are more sunny days than wet ones.
And warm, too! It was like spring today and I was outside this morning in just a t-shirt (well, pants and boots, too ) doing my chores.
The weather we've been having makes me almost as happy as Governor Gregoire's support of marriage equality.
I always loved Washington State since I was born in Seattle. I'm glad it's finally planning to move forward with equality legislation! In addition, I believe Oregon is planning the same for this year.
I'm always surprised to learn that none of the Left Coast states has legalized gay marriage, but then I always forget that the eastern halves of those states are all filled with hardcore conservative survivalist types.
I guess the bible thumpers will be switching to Mac or linux now. Maybe they can come up with an evangelical distribution of linux in protest.
