Wow, I just found out that I really am an old fart. I don't use nor have I ever been to "reddit" or "boing boing."

Well, it's midnight EST so is Wiki down, yet? Wasn't needing it but gotta peek.

Unimpressed.

If these websites want to really do anything substantive about SOPA instead of having Gandhi hunger-strikes, they would open their warchests and immediately provide crash funding for distributed DNS aka p2p-dns.

This is just fluffy horse crap to appease the technogeeks, when it really doesn't do jack.

Want to impress me Google and Microsoft? Donate $100M each to the distributed DNS project, or S T F U. Talk is cheap.

Develop and implement distributed DNS NOW! Crash funding NOW!

I think they are just scared that they will be "go-daddied" if they don't join in.

Develop and implement distributed DNS NOW!

P2P-DNS isn't active anymore as far as I'm aware. Namecoin seems to be the new thing in that arena.

The problem is the TLDs.

if the internet becomes regulated like cable tv and cell phones, it would be one of the worst things to happen this generation because of how important technology is to how we consume and spread news and information.
