I provided the link which proofs that it was a condition by the french. The Germans probably could have said no, but they didn't want to create any bad blood in Europe considering their past. Plus they wanted a swift unification and didn't want the single currency standing in the way. But if you don't believe the fact that is your choice, my poor soul.
Your link says there may have been an agreement with Kohl, not the Bund. Sorry Charlie, it's a fail like the original premis. The Bund had an opportunity to reject it, they chose to ratify it. Of course the British were much wiser and stronger, to deny the pressure from the rest of Europe.
I remember hearing stories in the mid 90's during the conflict in Serbia and Croatia--when the UN force was bombing ect. Well the Luftwaffe was part of the UN force. When the F16's with the Luftwaffe emblems landed at the local airport they said some of the old folks started crying and ran away in fear. People who could remember WWII.
After that all the jets were neutral UN blue.
I think you'll find those jets were probably Panavia tornado's.
You need to take some of the anger out of your discussion.
Of course Britain wants to protect London as a financial center. It is a vital national interest and probably important enough for Britain to pull out of the EU if needed.
Secondly, the UK has always worked with the EU on policies. Its just that the UK has not adopted the Euro and is not willing to help pay to bail it out. Almost all the other EU regulations in other areas have been adopted by the UK.
Third, the average German has done very well from the Euro as it has led to their export oriented economy booming. There were low interest rates with the Euro but everywhere else had low interest rates too. So they would probably have got them with or without the Euro.
You say the UK will be isolated. Is Switzerland isolated? Norway? And what will they be isolated from?
How would the mediterranean countries get low interest rates without the Euro?
Switzerland is not even in the EU. The Norway work together with the EU on policies. Plus no one really likes the UK in Continental Europe anyway, so the slightest disagreement can cause UK's isolation. Plus most of Europe is fed up with the banksters in London and that the UK wants to protect them.
Look ... the Brits hate the French too, they consider Italians excitable, Spanish unreliable, Swiss calculating, Greeks ....... etc. etc.
Its not specific to the Germans ... if you are not British then you are a target of the tabloids.
Yep which will lead to more British isolation in Europe.
