I will never by a new car from GM.

They failed as a business and should have been liquidated......first line investors(bondholders) should have been paid first.

i disagree with liquidation, but they should have gone through reorganization WITHOUT interference from the administration. obama should have sit on the sidelines and let the court do its thing.

I love my Hummer, and I would gladly buy another GM vehicle. I'm glad they were given a loan (not a bailout). All good governments support their manufacturing base, especially when times are tough.

You are close. Here is the correct statement;

All corrupt governments support their manufacturing base, especially when times are tough

I find it funny...Republicans support bailing out the banks, but then call bailing out the Auto Manufacturers 'crony capitalism'.

Nevermind that bailing out the Autos saved far more homes, jobs, etc., in this economy than bailing out the fat worthless pieces of crap on Wall Street EVER would have saved. Nevermind the 'auto bailout' cost a fraction of what the 'Wall Street bailout' cost...These Republicans act like bailing out auto companies is a slap to the face of their twisted version of capitalism, yet bailing out uber-rich bankers was a neccessity so the rest of us could survive...LOL

This. I don't see how they are failing due to having 4 vehicles on the worst list. Also I recently read here on CD that they sold the most cars of any other automaker this past year and they have regained the top spot in the world in auto sales.

Plus they have paid back the money. How is it a failure? I don't understand how some of you support having tens, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people losing their jobs and their retirees losing benefits that they cannot replace in their elder years. My grandma lost her pension when the company she worked for for 40 years filed bankruptcy and she ended up having to live off of $700 a month and her savings. By the time she died she didn't even have enough money for a funeral and we had to take up a collection.

ITA with this. My brother would have lost his job if GM had failed he works for an auto parts manufacturer who supplies GM. I have cousins as well who would have lost their jobs.

I am rooting for GM and hope they continue to do well in the future.

I've never heard that about Republicans... but I'm not one and oppose all bail outs.

You could you also say that "I find it funny...Democrats support bailing out the Auto Manufacturers, but then call bailing out the banks 'crony capitalism'."

And do you know how many people work for AIG and the banks? It's a lot.

So look in the mirror..... you will see exactly what you accuse the Republicans of.

You could say that about every company in America... every failed company will make some people lose their jobs. So do you want the government to bail out every company that is failing? Or do you just prefer that the government pick and choose which of their buddies they will bail out????
