The book about the obamas is not bad. The obamas are star struck & we dont need a president like that. Four years is long enough plus the novelty of having a black first family has worn off. Im surely voting republican this november even though i dont think much of politicians. I live in a small city (50k +) & the politicians here are not too bright.

Johnny Depp News: ~Depp & Burton Attend Whitehouse Halloween Party~

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama on Saturday handed out treats to more than 2,000 trick-or-treaters, marking their Halloween at a White House event partly aimed at honoring military families.
Johnny Depp & Tim Burton were amoung the attendess at the Whitehouse Halloween Party and apparently Johnny was very popular with the children because of his Jack Sparrow character from Pirates Of The Caribbean. It is not known yet if Depp & Burton dressed up for the Party but we do know there was some characters from The Night Before Christmas and apparently a tea party with the Mad Hatter....could this have been Johnny Depp?

Gee, I wonder why this didn't make it into the OP's link?
Sounds to me like someone doesn't approve of events honoring military families.
Shame on them.

^^^Not to mention, how could something involving 2000 trick or treaters and their parents remain a secret? What nonsense!

It was said that there was another party, not the one with the 2000 kids.
That other party is the secret party.

That it was "said?" Or that it actually happened? LOL

I'm betting they're two different things, and if it was "said" at all, it was "said" by someone like Rush...or Beck....or Breitbart.

Yeah, I wouldn't put it past the president and first lady to provide a reception or some such as thanks for Mr. Burton and Mr. Depp taking time out of their schedules to entertain the kids.
Though I suppose it would have been better to treat them simply as 'hired help.'

All I've read about is that there were two parties. The first event was attended by kids from area schools. That was followed by an event for military families which included the families of staff members.

If you search the reports from 2009, it was known and reported on that the two events took place and that Depp attended. What has not surfaced was a picture of Depp at the event.

During that same visit, there were formal state dinners at the White House with entertainment. They also sailed the Potomac on FDR's yacht.

The POINT is the WH COVERED up the LAVISH party they threw, didn't want it to get out in the middle of a severe recession and for some odd reason, the PRESS didn't REPORT it.

Oh, they reported and covered the first family giving out candy to military children, but they didn't mention the LAVISH party afterwards.

The White House is under fire for reportedly trying to downplay the role that two Hollywood stars played at a 2009 Halloween party, with press secretary Jay Carney today calling the media's reporting on the incident "irresponsible" and denying reports of an attempted cover-up. But no record of the two stars, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, appears in the official White House visitors logs.

And so we are now left to ponder the following: did the MSM know about the party at the time and choose not to cover it in order to protect Obama? Or is the White House statement about the MSM knowing about the party untrue but in order to protect Obama the MSM isn’t reporting that it’s untrue?

If you look at the text of the book, the sort of outside trick-or-treating was public with press. The inside party, which was the more lavish party, was kept very quiet,' Ms Kantor said on the Today show.

The book reveals how any official announcement of the glittering affair — coming at a time when Tea Party activists and voters furious over the lagging economy, 10-percent unemployment rate, bank bailouts and Obama’s health-care plan were staging protests — quickly vanished down the rabbit hole.

“White House officials were so nervous about how a splashy, Hollywood-esque party would look to jobless Americans — or their representatives in Congress, who would soon vote on health care — that the event was not discussed publicly and Burton’s and Depp’s contributions went unacknowledged,” the book says.

However, the White House made certain that more humble Halloween festivities earlier that day — for thousands of Washington-area schoolkids — were well reported by the press corps.
So...I guess the press didn't feel it "news" to report on the lavish party thrown by obama?
