" A Republican state legislator who is an outspoken advocate for gun rights was cited Wednesday for trying to bring a loaded handgun onto a flight.
California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly was detained after a Colt .45 with four rounds was discovered inside his carry-on bag as he passed through a screening machine at Ontario International Airport, said Transportation Security Administration spokesman Nico Melendez.

Donnelly, a self-proclaimed tea party Republican who lives in the Southern California mountain community of Twin Peaks, said he inadvertently left the gun in his briefcase.

Donnelly does not have a permit from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department to carry a concealed weapon, department spokeswoman Jodi Miller said. That is the law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction over the area in which Donnelly lives."

Maybe if he had been allowed on one of the flights on September 11, 3000 people wouldn't have died... what's your point?

This is weird all the way around. He claims he was carrying it since he was receiving death threats since he doesn't support giving taxpayers' money to illegal immigrants for higher education.

Who makes death threats over this? Plus, if it was hidden within his bag, how quick could he really react if someone actually tried to take him out?

This story is like adding 2 + 2 to get 5.

Or we could have had more highjackings because it would make it easier for terrorists to bring weapons onto planes.

The TEAbagger mind is an interesting, stupid and scary thing.

He is a moron just like those who complain about the security that the TSA provides.

Considering this leftist believes that free citizens should be encouraged to be at all times armed and be able to carry a gun wherever they have a legal right to be I think this guy is being railroaded. I also do not think the TSA does anything to protect our people but only manages to make travelers more frightened and amenable to bullying. However considering the TSA reaction to a loaded gun, along with California’s absurdly restrictive laws, I am willing to believe he just forgot or is a dumb as many other 'tea baggers".
