Are you thinking that Barbour reviewed the cases of each prisoner whom he pardoned and found convincing evidence that they were innocent such as DNA? If so, he gave the public no explanation. These prisoners worked at his residence.

IMO, if any of those prisoners, who were released, commit further crimes or murder, the blood is on Barbour's hands.

If you practice Christianity, let all the prisoners out of jail!

Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said Friday he's "very comfortable" with his decision to grant pardons or other clemency to more than 200 people, including convicted killers, in his last days in office, telling Fox News that Mississippi is predominantly Christian and believes in forgiveness.

Giving a hand out to a drifter or homeless person is one thing. Releasing convicted murderers and rapists, well, me thinks Jesus didn't have that in mind.

He stated that he believes everyone deserves a second chance.

A second chance to murder, rape, DUI and killing people.

Barbour Defends Controversial Pardons As Based On The Christian Belief In Forgiveness | Fox News

Quote:
Barbour said Friday during his first interviews on the pardons that nearly 190 of the people who got pardons or other reprieves had already been released from prison before his actions. Only 10, he said, have been or will be fully released from prison.

Checked the list. Didn't see "murder", "rapist", "DUI death". But I did see his love for his half-brother Roger and for:

Fife Symington III - former Republican Arizona governor

Five prisoners pardoned and released Sunday by outgoing Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R) have gone missing amid a burgeoning debate about whether the 200-plus individuals given clemency by the governor merited mercy under the state constitution.

On Wednesday, circuit judge Tomie Green, after a complaint by state Attorney General Jim Hood, blocked the release of 21 of the convicts because they may not have met a public notice requirement under the state constitution. Judge Green also mandated that the five men released over the weekend report back to the state and attend a Jan. 23 hearing, but Mr. Hood said Thursday that the men can't be found.

"These convicts got out and hit the road," Hood said, according to CNN. “This is probably going to end up in some attempt by us to have fugitive warrants issued for these people. There’s going to be a national search for some of them.”

Yeah, apparently Jesus made him do it.

What explanation can anyone in their right mind give to excuse that action? It has absolutely nothing to do with a political party, but what is right from wrong.

Murder, rape, DUI deaths, etc are not victimless crimes. Will he claim ignorance to procedure and law, as apparently he did show it with regard to 21 prisoners who were up for pardon.

I wonder if you even KNOW the numbers that were released BEFORE the pardons?

Only 10 or so were released, the others were already out of jail.
