Quick study: Alastair Smith on political tyranny: How to be a dictator | The Economist

You need a small group of rewarded cronies, a highly taxed population, and you need to never let humanitarian disasters get in the way of support for your regime....

Don't forget a propaganda ministry that would make Goebbels proud. Obama has that here in the US.

Oh and you don't allow people such as Beck, and rags such as the Blaze and the Godfather to contine to attack you, not to mention web posters doing the same.
Good to know we are still a Free Nation run by and an Elected Representative of the People

OP - dont worry - all those people who bought guns recently did so for freedom. They will save us and keep us free!

ETA: sarcasm apart, it is truly sad that we are limiting our freedom in exchange for supposed security. Bush started this and Obama has not slowed it down.

Man, you guys are something else. Both Bush and Obama have destroyed civil rights and democracy in this country. When are you guys going to stop being party hacks and really pay attention to what is going on?

And time to convince the people that you are right. Once you get the majority behind you and supporting you is when you make your move.

Took Hitler 10 years to get total control of Germany but he did it and had the people convinced and supporting him.

The man sitting in the Oval Office is not the one you should be paying attention to.
That NDAA bill was veto proof.

Spending bills and Federal control bills seem to have no problem getting through the House/Senate/WH. Yet talk about budget, talk about justice (Wall Street cronies) and the finger pointing starts that the other side is to blame for the inaction.
