Well the government knows what's best for you. No smoking, no drinking, no trans-fats, etc.
They'll just regulate you into perfect health. It's for your own good you know because you cannot make the right choices yourself so government will do it for you.

And the problem is....?
"Nanny State PA (Where that ultra left wing Rick Santorum served as Senator for 12 years) has been that way for many decades - at least back to the 60's if not further back (Actually, 1933).
Can only buy Liquor in State run stores.

Attempts to make those stores private have been opposed by those Liberal Groups, the Council of Churches and MADD.

However, Bloomberg's plan is dumb and will not work.

Soon a chip will be implanted in NY'ers to monitor their sugar, nicotine, alcohol intake. You go over the limit off to a fat camp or treatment center to be tested so as to define why you are the way you are so they can engineer the perfect citizen through genetics. Hitler would be proud of these guys.

Told you this would happen. Non-smokering liberals cheered the smoking ban. I said I was against the ban because it sets precident for limiting personal freedom to use legal items. Now they've started going after certain types of food and are doubling down going after alcohol as well.

Many people think Hitler came into power overnight.
It took 10 years (1923-1933) for him to get to the top. 10 years and he had the German people convinced and behind him and supported him.

In reality, they may take a page from some European cities and impose a "fee"(because it's harder to pass a tax) on vehicles of a certain engine size or vehicle weight entering metropolitan areas. They can gradually increase the fee until only the wealthy or business vehicles can afford the fees. Then they'll increase cost for public transport. Then to help the poor who can't afford the cost, the city will take a page from china and purchase a large amount of bicycles for public transportation for anyone to use.

Libs will try to deny it, but the fact of the matter is that nannyism and collectivism (left-ism) go hand in hand. In my very blue (nose?) state we finally are getting rid of our state-run liquor stores, and most of the opposition to the change came from the left. The city of Seattle enacted 'alcohol impact zones' several years ago, wherein about 30 types of high-alcohol beers and wine were banned.

Similar in concept is regulation of 'food deserts' heavily pushed by Michelle Obama. Here in lefty King County WA, this is considered a hot idea.

Like it or not, 'liberalism' (which is really illiberalism) and nannyism are mates for life. I predict that either a) lefty posters will try to deny, or b)there will be a loud quiet from lefty posters on this thread.
