"WASHINGTON — When the companies that supply motor fuel close the books on 2011, they will pay about $6.8 million in penalties to the Treasury because they failed to mix a special type of biofuel into their gasoline and diesel as required by law."

"But there was none to be had. Outside a handful of laboratories and workshops, the ingredient, cellulosic biofuel, does not exist."

This truly defies logic! It just shows you how crazy and out of control the Government has become.

Apparently, it DOES exist in that handful of labs and workshops, but not in sufficient quantity for nationwide application.

Still, maybe the person who approved the fine needs to be docked a few months' pay. That might conceivably serve as an object lesson (although I doubt it!)

Default EPA fines companies for not using nonexistent fuels.

Those people really don't seem able to see the truth when it slaps them in the face. However, these fines would provide a pile of money for Dems to spend on whatever. Maybe enough to finance the next Solyndra.

They have to supply money for that green machine to keep going on so I guess they must tax hell out of other suppliers of energy.

You got that right. Isn't it amazing the amount of stupidity and corruption that this country now accepts. How did we get to the point of letting the Government rob us blind every which way you look? The Greenies have their hands in every body's pocket and their noses in everybody's business forcing us to subsidize cars that nobody wants to drive, use goofy looking light bulbs that aren't bright enough, install toilets that don't flush and now they are requiring the use of something that doesn't exist! Time to wake up and smell the rotten coffee People! Enough Big Government that is run by special interest groups that line their own pockets. 2012 can't get here soon enough. Time to get some semblance of sanity back.

Maybe Congress will authorize the IRS to collect taxes on "income you should have made but didn't"

That will give Wash DC a sh*tload of other people's money to redistribute as they see fit.

(You know, I'm sure there are some people who would find a way to defend this! )

Default EPA fines fuel companies for not using green additive that doesn't exist

Yeah and the government isn't over regulating this nonsense. Soon we'll be fined for not using wind energy that isn't available if these clowns get their way.

"WASHINGTON — When the companies that supply motor fuel close the books on 2011, they will pay about $6.8 million in penalties to the Treasury because they failed to mix a special type of biofuel into their gasoline and diesel as required by law.

But there was none to be had. Outside a handful of laboratories and workshops, the ingredient, cellulosic biofuel, does not exist.

In 2012, the oil companies expect to pay even higher penalties for failing to blend in the fuel, which is made from wood chips or the inedible parts of plants like corncobs. Refiners were required to blend 6.6 million gallons into gasoline and diesel in 2011 and face a quota of 8.65 million gallons this year."

So, why isn't the biofuel required available? What set of laws and regulations were created for the EPA to put these rules in place, and WHO was actually behind it?
