I'm not able to vote (due to being a permanent resident), but in the last presidential election I would have voted for Obama. I liked McCain but did not like Palin, and I really liked some of Obama's campaign promises. I was a bit of an idealistic teenager back then but some of his ideas still resonate with me today. Most notably universal health care.

But now, three years later, I feel pretty let down. What happened to everything that this charismatic, smart young man promised? I was under the impression that my mom would have an easier time getting health care. She's been struggling for months waiting for the jackasses in charge of the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Program to approve her coverage. Change we can believe in my ass.

The economy's still not doing too hot (despite the latest UE numbers, a lot of that drop is due to people not looking for work any more!). I realize these things take time but god damn it seems like he's totally ineffective at getting both sides of the aisle to cooperate. Sure, he ordered the operation to kill OBL and we are leaving Iraq, but in the grand scheme of things that's not gonna help Joe Sixpack put bread on the table. We've still got Gitmo and he signed the NDAA with that chilling provision regarding indefinite detention.

Basically it just feels like one big letdown. So why should someone vote for him? Why would I want to vote for him if I could vote? And don't say "because he's not a Republican"; if neither Paul nor Huntsman got the nomination then I'd probably just write-in a random bum on the street.

All Presidents are a let down. The President is prevented, via the Constitution, from doing everything he campaigns on...that's the intended "checks and balances".

Keep in mind, the US is not a monarchy...a single person should not have the authority to make law, even though Obama see otherwise.

I completely agree. But surely an effective leader would try and get enough people on his side?

The Republican candidates for president love to talk of cutting taxes and reducing regulations to promote job creation, but they had 8 years under Bush to do all that. Bush had at least 4, maybe 6 years of a Republican dominated Congress to work with. So I'm not anxious to give the presidency back to the Republicans.

Bin Laden dead. Gaddafi dead. We're finally out of Iraq. Don't Ask Don't Tell repealed. All top Al Qaeda leadership completely wiped out. First steps being taken to finally reign in our out-of-control military spending. Manufacturing jobs are finally coming back after 10 years. Unemployment is slowly coming down.

And the only thing Republicans have to offer is whining, crying, and complaining about Obama's birth certificate.

In fact, as a moderate Democrat the only thing that really irks me about Obama is his dreaded "ObamaCare". I DO NOT believe in centralized, government-controlled healthcare. But since--amazingly--the Republicans are about to nominate Mitt "Flip Flop" Romney, who invented ObamaCare, the only reason for me voting against Obama is pretty much neutralized. I would never vote for a lying scumbag like Romney, who can't even make up his mind as to whether he's a liberal or a conservative.

The choice is easy. This registered Virginia voter is voting for Obama again in 2012.

Everything you said. Well, except for what you said about "ObamaCare." My complaint about it is that it doesn't go far enough.

Plus, the fact that there could be two Supreme Court appointments coming up during his next term in office, and for those of us who feel that a woman should continue to have the right to make certain choices about her own body, and for those of us who would like to see Citizens United overturned, thus releasing the hold people like the Koch Brothers has over this country, re-electing President Obama is hugely important.

OBAMA 2012!!!

i think with obama in his second term (if he wins) he'll be more bold and might go to the left more, as he has essentially been a center president.

romney is the same way. he's either going to be left or center if he wins. no way i can be convinced on his past that hes a legit conservative. he'll pander, and people will be dumb enough to buy it. romney was essentially a big government liberal democrat in mass.

thats why i think romney will be a weak candidate vs. obama, since they are practically identical.
